A Rich History

Dating Back to 1941

Discovered as a greenfield site in 1941, the How Mine has grown into one of Zimbabwe’s most established gold operations, expanding both open-pit and underground mining under successive owners. Lonrho Zimbabwe managed the mine for nearly three decades, followed by Metallon in 2002 and Bulawayo Mining Company in 2016. Namib Minerals assumed ownership in 2025, continuing its long tradition of production while embedding modern ESG practices and community partnerships into the operation.

Upcoming Advancements

The How Mine is advancing a significant production increase over the next two to three years, supported by mill expansion and optimized processing capacity. This growth will be complemented by the planned restart of nearby Mazowe and Redwing mines, leveraging shared infrastructure to deliver scalable, sustainable output.
